London-based healthcare management consultancy Acumentice has confirmed a new appointment as it looks to further strengthen its expertise.
Michael Watson, a former internal management consultant for NHS England, will join the team as Principal Consultant, bringing with him 20 years of experience and understanding of the internal struggles, processes and strengths of the NHS.
Previous roles include intensive Support Manager in Elective Care (NHS IMAS), Head of Information at Kingston Hospital NHS Trust and Mental Health Improvement Adviser.
While working in the NHS, Michael has undertaken several NHS Interim Management and Support (NHS IMAS) assignments in acute trusts, focusing on data and information. He also holds an MSc in Healthcare Leadership and a certificate in management consulting from the Chartered Management Institute.
To complement his consultancy experience, Michael has a strong passion for improving mental health services as Chair of the Board of a charity for therapeutic residential care for people with severe mental illness. He also worked for nine months as the national Head of Performance for learning disabilities and autism in NHS England.
Michael’s experience and knowledge will strengthen Acumentice’s healthcare consultancy offerings, particularly when it comes to mental health.

Acumentice has also recently appointed Stephen Hall as Director of Consulting Services, who has extensive experience as a former NHS Foundation Trust Director of Performance & Planning.
