This week, I’ve been incredibly lucky to spend every day with the team at Wild PR.

On the first day, I was introduced to the office by Kayleigh, who ran me through my tasks for the week. Immediately I was surprised by the relaxed atmosphere – I could tell that the people here were hard-working and happy to be there.

First of all, I had some time to familiarise myself with what the company does – including the kinds of clients they work with and what they do to support them – and then I dove into all sorts of quizzes.

These quizzes gave me the opportunity to learn more about myself and how I work. Including my personality type (ISFP) and learning type (visual learner). The resilience quiz was the most detailed of the three – it gave me some really insightful information on how I could work on myself going forward.

Day two was a lot busier! I was introduced to content marketing through a Semrush course, which took a while for me to get to grips with, but it was nothing compared to the Google Analytics course. Before I even got to that, though, I had the chance to research the content that would go into one of my own blogs for one of Wild’s clients! Then, the Google Analytics course was so challenging for me that I had to finish it the next day!

After completing the Beginners to Google Analytics course, I was awarded a certificate, something that I could use to demonstrate my skills in the future. So all the hard work paid off. Afterwards, Mollie supported me in creating a CV – which Kayleigh looked over and helped me improve upon – where I could compile together all my experiences. I didn’t realise that there was so much I could add to my CV, but Kayleigh’s notes made me realise that you actually develop quite a lot of skills out of everything you do!

I then worked on a LinkedIn profile and experimented with Canva. Before I knew it, the end of the day was approaching, and with thirty minutes left, Mollie and Ella gave me a mock interview. I was definitely nervous, but they were so kind and made the process seem a lot less intimidating than I anticipated it to be. They gave me some really helpful advice and eased my mind about interviews and options regarding further education and life after school.

On day four, my first task was to draft this blog! I’ve always enjoyed writing, so this felt like the perfect task for towards the end of the week after a lot of learning and adapting.

Day 5 will be my last one with the team, and then I’ll be returning to school to do my first set of mocks ever! In hindsight, the week has flown by, but I’m so grateful for all the time that I got to spend here; it was amazing and feels like an experience I’ll appreciate for a long time. Before my week at Wild, my understanding of PR was very vague, but bit by bit, I’ve gained a stronger understanding of what goes on within the industry.

Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Wild PR as a work experience opportunity – I feel confident that I’ve gained a lot from my time here, and the attitudes of the people around me definitely made it all so much easier.
