Having been named Yorkshire SME Apprenticeship Employer of the Year in the National Apprenticeship Awards 2020 and shortlisted in the National Graduate Recruitment Awards, we are a firm that advocates the support of the next generation with meaningful work experience opportunities.

THIS WEEK, WE’VE BEEN JOINED BY STUDENT AND ASPIRING JOURNALIST, CHARLOTTE COOKE FROM HOLMFIRTH HIGH.

“My name is Charlotte, I am 15, and I spent four days at Wild PR on a course for my year ten work experience. My mum mentioned joining Wild PR’s place as she’s aware I love doing writing, research and all things online.

I am interested in journalism because it allows you to educate other people about what’s happening in the world today; it also gives you an opportunity to write about different topics in your own style.

The arrival time was early in the morning to get me prepared and aware of what was happening in the upcoming days, I first stepped into the office not knowing what to expect, but I was quickly welcomed by all the staff. Mollie showed me around to explain where everything is while the rest of them got to work. Just from this view alone, I could tell that they were all very dedicated to what they do – this is a good thing since an environment that is focused is one that’s professional and successful.

To start the day, I got sat at a computer and shown my schedule full of activities that were planned for the week. These activities consisted of learning style quizzes, so I could get a better understanding of my personal work style/preferences, as well as personality quizzes and resilience quizzes. Overall this was a fun activity because it’s not straight into work or hard, but instead, an easy thing you can do for fun that also commits relevance to your work.

Blogging is something I love doing, so when I was told I had a task set to research tips and advice for eCommerce businesses on how social media can benefit them, with the aim to draft a blog on behalf of Wild PR,  I was overjoyed! I really enjoyed writing five recommendations; this took me two hours!

During the week, I also undertook industry-related courses and managed to earn a few certificates, including a course on content marketing fundamentals and a ‘Google Analytics course for beginners‘, a platform used for monitoring results and ROI of PR and marketing activity.  I really enjoyed this task as not only did I build my knowledge, but I was able to achieve certification for my CV.

Next, my LinkedIn profile was set up so I could look for other work experience places and jobs that may want to hire me. This is important because it guarantees us a spot at companies in the near future. I also had a mock interview with Ella and Hollie to prepare me for any future real interviews I may have.

Overall, I would recommend coming to Wild PR because the environment in the room is wonderful and calm. The staff are very friendly with each other and get along with you.”
