Back in the days of the daily commute, podcasts were the perfect alternative to listening to repetitive radio stations or scrolling through your phone aimlessly. But while the structure of our days might have changed, podcasts certainly shouldn’t be overlooked when it comes to a source of entertainment, learning and wellbeing.

So what are Podcasts?

Podcasts are a free service that allows Internet users or those with smartphones to pull audio files (typically MP3s) from a podcasting service to listen on their devices. The term comes from a combination of the words iPod and broadcasting.

According to stats from Ofcom, Podcasts were listened to by over 7.1m people in 2019, an increase of over 24% since the year previous. While entertainment podcasts might lead to the popularity stakes, they are also an excellent resource for boosting your industry expertise and wellbeing.
