What’s your origin story?

During sixth form, I carried out some work experience within a journalism and editorial company, which started my interest in writing and PR.

However, I always enjoyed English Literature, so I went on to study this subject at the University of Birmingham, graduating with a 2:1. I also studied politics in my first year, which opened my eyes even more to the importance of being aware of social and political issues across the globe.

After graduation, I began working in a sales role and then followed my initiative to take on extra responsibilities for the external marketing team. This work included copywriting to enhance SEO, starting a social media page for the showroom, blog writing and attending marketing and PR strategy meetings.

From this practical work experience, I knew that I wanted to work in digital marketing and PR full time. I jumped at the opportunity to go for the digital marketing apprenticeship at Wild PR! I knew that it would be the perfect start to my career.

How long have you been at Wild PR?

Since the 7th of March, so I have been here for over a month now! I can’t believe how quickly it has flown by!

What attracted you to this role?

I was attracted to the role because I looked at previous work for clients done by the agency, which reflected the hard work and dedication of the team.

I was also really attracted to the attitude and culture within the team – I think a positive, motivational environment is critical!

If you could change one thing about Wild PR, what would it be?

I can’t think of anything I would want to change! It’s been a supportive and positive experience, and I am looking forward to my future at Wild PR.

What important milestones do you have coming up in your life?

This year I turn 23 (scary!), and I am excited to develop my career while also cramming in as much travelling as possible. In 12-15 months, I will have finished my digital marketing apprenticeship, which will call for a big celebration.

I am also planning a backpacking excursion in Japan in 2022 or 2023, which will be a major tick off my bucket list!

If you were handed £1.5 million today, what would you do with it?

My first purchase would be a lovely 2 or 3 bedroom detached home as my first house, close to family and friends. I would also love to invest in property as a side hustle; I’ve always wanted to have my own Airbnb near the countryside.

My parents have also supported me through my degree and getting this role, so I would love to treat them and the whole family to a tropical holiday to thank you.

What is the strangest talent you have?

I wouldn’t call it a strange talent or party trick, but I really enjoy cooking. My homemade carbonara or chicken korma would be my most popular!

What do you love about your job?

As a Campaign Assistant, I am fortunate to be involved in many parts of the campaign. I carry out blog writing, social media planning, news monitoring, desk research, PR outreach, etc.

I also love the balance between working full time and working towards my Digital Marketing apprenticeship; it means that I am constantly learning new things!

What TV show/movie/song closely represents your life at the moment?

I have started watching Selling Sunset on Netflix recently. I can relate to Chrishelle beginning a new role in a female-dominated office, but luckily I can’t relate to the office drama!

The girls within the series are very motivated in the workplace and determined to get the best possible results for their clients, which aligns perfectly with the team at Wild PR.

Do you currently have, or did you have, any nicknames?

While my name is already really short, my friends and family tend to call me Lyds!

What is your go-to drink when at a pub/bar?

Definitely a mojito or a french martini – the classic cocktails are the best. I also really like fruity gins, like blueberry or blood orange.

What personal accomplishment are you secretly really proud of?

I’m sure many other graduates will agree with me on this – I am proud to have finished my degree in the middle of a pandemic!

The second year of my degree was really disrupted, and then my final year was almost entirely from home due to the lockdown last year.

I was incredibly proud to hand my dissertation in finally and thrilled to have finished with a 2:1 in English Literature.

What is your proudest moment at Wild PR (so far)?

I was really proud to see two of our clients win awards in their category at the Examiner Business Awards last week – this just solidified that our team are hardworking and dedicated!

I was also proud to receive great feedback on my first blog posts for clients, which gave me more confidence that I had made the right decision to work for Wild PR!

If you could have any company as a client, who would it be?

It would be insightful to create campaigns for a brand that I already love and respect, such as the fashion brand Motel Rocks. But, I also have so many more dream clients like Boohoo, Revolution De Cuba, Pretty Little Thing and Bondi Sands.

If you could close your eyes and transport yourself anywhere, where would you go?

I would love to visit the Philippines and Dubai. It would be amazing to be able to skip the long flight and go straight to enjoying the sun.
