Having recently completed A-Levels in Media, Film and English Literature, we’re delighted to welcome Jessica Ledger to the Wild PR team as Junior Marketing Assistant. Bringing a strong, creative foundation to the team, Jess will be enhancing this knowledge by pursuing a Level 3 Content Marketer qualification through The Juice Academy to further develop her skills.
We asked Jess some key questions about her experience and career; find out more about how Jess will support both Wild PR and our clients’ success below!
Tell us a little bit more about yourself… where have you come from, what are your interests and ambitions?
I have always had a strong passion for creativity, communication and writing. Growing up, I loved singing and performing, which fueled my confidence in expressing myself creatively and connecting with people. I also have a big love for animals, particularly cats, of which I have two of my own.
Being surrounded by social media from a young age sparked my interest in the world of media and marketing, so I began studying it at GCSE and have continued ever since.
My ambition is to build a career in the media industry, with a particular focus on marketing, as I see it as a sector full of opportunities to learn, grow and apply my skills. I’m especially excited about exploring all areas of marketing, with the goal of mastering my craft.
What made you want to pursue a career in PR & marketing?
I was drawn to PR and marketing because it blends creativity with communication, two things I’ve always been passionate about. Growing up around social media showed me how powerful storytelling can be in shaping opinions and connecting with people. I love that the industry is constantly evolving, offering endless opportunities to learn, grow and put ideas into action.
What is your experience/education to date?
So far, my education has been focused on building a strong foundation in media and communications. I began with media studies at GCSE, followed by a BTEC in Creative and Digital Media, which provided me with valuable practical experience.
I then went on to study Media, Film, and English Literature at A-level, which allowed me to develop both my creative and analytical skills. Alongside my studies, I also gained experience working in retail at Flannels, which helped me build strong communication, teamwork and customer service skills.
What attracted you to the role at Wild PR?
When I was looking to start my career in marketing, I knew I wanted an opportunity that would give me real hands-on experience. That’s what immediately attracted me to the apprenticeship role at Wild PR.
Wild PR’s variety of clients and projects was another factor. I knew that I’d get the chance to delve into everything from social media content to press releases and campaign planning.
On top of that, I was really drawn to the supportive team culture. As an apprentice, having experienced professionals around me who are open to sharing their knowledge is invaluable. For me, Wild PR feels like the perfect place to learn, grow and start building a career in marketing, while contributing to meaningful, creative work.
What does your role entail?
As a Marketing Assistant at Wild PR, every day brings something different, which is what makes my role so exciting.
I spend my time getting involved in all sorts of tasks, from helping with social media content and supporting PR activity. What I enjoy most is seeing how the work I do fits into bigger projects and contributes to real results for clients. At the same time, I’m constantly learning, picking up new skills, gaining confidence and developing an understanding of how PR and marketing work in practice.
How will your role support client success?
In my role as a Marketing Assistant, I play a key part in supporting the delivery of campaigns that drive client success. From scheduling social media posts to drafting content and conducting research, the work I do contributes to raising brand awareness, strengthening client reputations, and achieving meaningful results.
What have you enjoyed (or are you proudest of achieving) thus far?
In just three weeks at Wild PR, I’m proud of how quickly I’ve been able to contribute to real client work while building my skills. I’ve learnt how to schedule social media content, had the opportunity to draft an email to a journalist on behalf of a client, written a blog and developed my understanding of how to interpret a brief and adapt to a brand’s tone of voice during my apprenticeship training. What I’m most proud of is being trusted to take on tasks that have a direct impact on clients.
How will you be developing your knowledge in the industry?
I am learning from experienced colleagues who share their expertise and guide me through best practices, which helps me grow in confidence and skill. Alongside this, my apprenticeship training provides me with theoretical knowledge to understand the wider industry, which I can then apply in real-world situations.
This blend of practical experience, mentorship, and formal learning is providing me with a well-rounded understanding of PR and marketing, and preparing me for a successful career in the sector.
What is an emerging trend that you’re excited to explore?
A trend I am excited to explore is the rise of short-form video content. Platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts have completely changed the way people consume media, with audiences now expecting content that is quick, engaging and straight to the point.
For PR and Marketing, short-form video is a powerful way to capture attention and build authentic connections with audiences, especially younger demographics. I’m looking forward to learning how to create content that not only entertains but also drives results and seeing how brands use creativity to stand out.
