We’ve summarised five of our favourites and what we use them for as part of our ongoing work for clients: 

 

SE Ranking 

A single platform packed full of functions that enables you to perform all of the integral SEO tasks like keyword research, competitive analysis, rank tracking, website audit, backlink check, and much more in one place. We use this platform to monitor the performance of our client’s websites, reviewing and identifying the top keywords our clients should be ranking for and keeping an eye on their backlink profile. 

Within SE Ranking, users can take an in-depth look at client’s backlink profile monitoring referring domains, the total number of backlinks, domain trust,  followed and nofollow links as well as active, new and lost backlinks. This can also be really useful when it comes to monitoring competitors’ performance and conducting link gap analysis and identifying new tactics.

 

Answer the Public 

Answer the Public is a great (and FREE) SEO tool that can be used to help identify blog and campaign topics for clients. Google trends

Not only does Google trends give you information regarding a keyword but it offers great insight into trends around the topic, which can be invaluable at any stage of strategy and campaign development. 

Users are able to search for keywords in any country and gather information around it including top queries, rising queries, interest over time, and geographical locations depending on interest. SEO Pro Extension

Another free and really useful tool for digital PRs! SEO Pro Extension allows users to see all on-page SEO information in one second. Key abilities of the chrome extension are being able to check the HTTP status of any page, quickly spot indexing or canonicalization issues and perhaps most useful for digital PRs, highlight nofollow links on a page. 

Whenever you need to see if a link on a page is nofollowed, you can easily do it without any need to dig into the code. Just click the extension badge in the browser, go to the Links tab and choose ‘highlight nofollow links’. The nofollow links will be framed in red immediately so that you can easily spot them. 

 

Keywords Everywhere

Keywords Everywhere is another amazing free chrome extension that literally gives you keywords, everywhere! The tool dynamically adds keyword volume and suggestions into almost every search bar you can think of. 

 

Everything from eBay and Amazon to Google and YouTube, wherever your client’s audience is searching for information, products, services or content, you can gather accurate insights into search volumes, competition and a list of suggested relevant keywords as well.
